MTA - Social Media Intern
ROLE DETAILS
Selected for the competitive CUNY x MTA internship program, I worked closely with the MTA’s Social Media Manager and Content Team to create short-form content across seven social media platforms.
I contributed to a range of content including trend-driven videos, service updates, public awareness campaigns, and celebrity content. By distilling complex transit information I created easily digestible formats for the public audience. I also supported content planning by organizing ideas, managing content calendars, tracking post performance, and assisting with monthly analytics reporting across social media channels.

STYLE GUIDE
While adhering to the MTA’s brand identity, I balance visual style based on content goals. For trend-driven posts, I lean into bold colors and dynamic edits; for service updates, I prioritize clarity to keep riders informed. As a government entity, I navigate licensing by sourcing royalty-free music and ensure accessibility through legible captions and detailed alt-text for all graphics.

Video Content
MTA Leaders
I collaborated with MTA leaders like President Demetrius Crichlow to create video content, contributing to script writing, b-roll ideation, filming, and editing.
The content helped leaders communicate train service changes and updates while expanding their social media exposure to engage the public.
President Demetrius Crichlow shares that there will be service changes on the 4 and 5 lines in order to replace switches on the Jerome Av Line, which carries the 4/5 trains between the Bronx and Manhattan.
MTA Departments
Part of our social media content included collaborating with other departments like MTA Arts & Design.
For a video focused on women and artistry, I worked with my social media team to take it in a fun and aesthetic direction. I contributed to script writing, performed voiceovers, handled filming, starred in the video, and managed editing.
MTA Arts & Design promoting the Her Mark on the City: MTA Arts & Design Tour Series, available on the Bloomberg Connects Guide. The tour consists of more than 175 permanent artworks created by women artists throughout all five boroughs. This video focuses on the Brooklyn collection.
MTA Giveaways
The MTA occasionally runs giveaway content to engage audiences, and during the MetroCard Farewell campaign, I took the lead in filming a giveaway video.
I created a quick, eye-catching, and fast paced piece that showcased four uniquely rare blue MetroCards. The goal was to generate excitement and capture attention instantly, highlighting the rarity of the cards.
MetroCard Farewell campaign initiated a giveaway for 4 blue MetroCards from the ‘90s to celebrate its legacy.
Trends
In order to pursue one of our goals which was creating trend driven content, I managed a list updated everyday where I track down trends and see how to incorporate it into a single video idea, have it as posts, and much more
These ideas are meant to be utilized in any type of our content, making it appropriate for our brand into future content.
The "looksmaxxing" trend but turned it into "faremaxxing", combined with a rage-bait styled video to generate engagement in the comments.
Celebrity PSAs
I assisted my team by organizing b-roll and other clips.
For the celebrity recorded content, I handled audio syncing with their mic to the videos and placed everything into clearly organized files to support the main video editor.
I also added captions to the video once editing was complete.
Andy Cohen recorded PSAs to remind fellow riders that we’re saying farewell to the MetroCard and it’s time to tap and ride.
